Premise/ overview
A folk horror about theatre that takes place in an immersive show similar to Sleep No More, The Experience features Kira, a successful theatre critic and YouTube personality who has abandoned her dream of being a performer for something more logic-bound and stable. When her viral reviews snag her an invitation to the exclusive, secretive production of Crown of Thorns, she attends with her ride-or-die group of college drama-kid besties and her normie boyfriend Greg. However, what they don’t know is that the performers have made a deal with the demon of Fame to ensure the success of their show through blood sacrifice. The cast chooses which audience members to pick off and which to recruit into their ranks, and ultimately offer to grant Kira the talent she craves if she gives herself over to them. What if the truest version of yourself, when it is free, is both beautiful and monstrous?
